Concentric Reducers for Butt-Weld Piping Transitions
A concentric reducer connects two different pipe sizes while keeping their centerlines aligned. Its symmetrical tapered body provides a gradual transition between the large and small ends. The supplied photographs show the exterior profile, internal transition and cut end faces of representative stainless steel fittings.
Sample markings visible in the gallery include 304 stainless steel, GB/T 12459-2017 and nominal size pairs such as 76 × 38 and 133 × 76. These markings apply only to the photographed samples; the required standard, dimensions, schedule and material records must be confirmed for the order.
Specifications to Confirm
| Item | Details for quotation |
|---|---|
| Fitting type | Concentric pipe reducer with coaxial large and small ends for butt-weld installation. |
| Material reference | 304 stainless steel is marked on the pictured examples. Specify the required grade, material standard and certification. |
| Dimensional standard | GB/T 12459-2017 appears on sample markings. Confirm the governing standard and dimensional series for the required fitting. |
| End sizes | State the large-end and small-end outside diameters or nominal pipe sizes, plus matching pipe dimensions. |
| Wall thickness | Specify schedule or actual wall thickness at both ends and any transition requirements. |
| End preparation | Define square cut or bevel geometry, root face and other weld-preparation details. |
| Construction | The supplier reference describes seamless formed reducers. Confirm manufacturing route and any related documentation in the quotation. |
| Surface and inspection | Specify finish, cleaning, marking, dimensional records and any additional examination required. |
Selection and Piping Design
Identify both mating pipes by their applicable standard, outside diameter and wall thickness. Nominal size alone may not fully define the joint. Check reducer length, transition profile and available installation space against the piping drawing before ordering.
A concentric reducer keeps both pipe axes aligned. Where drainage, vapor accumulation or flow orientation makes an offset transition necessary, an eccentric reducer may be more appropriate. The piping designer should select the configuration for the intended medium, orientation and operating conditions.
Welding and Service Requirements
End preparation must match the welding procedure and connected pipe. State any fit-up tolerance, bevel angle, root face and edge condition needed. If the photographed plain ends are not the required preparation, provide a drawing for the finished ends.
Pressure and temperature capability cannot be determined from appearance or material grade alone. Provide the design pressure, design temperature, medium, corrosion allowance and applicable piping code. Suitability is reviewed as part of the completed piping specification, not assigned from the photographs.
Inspection and Documentation
Agree the required material identification, dimensional inspection, wall-thickness checks, visual examination and marking before production. Any material certificate, non-destructive examination or project-specific document should be listed with the enquiry and confirmed in the quotation. See our quality control information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the markings define the full available size range?
No. They identify individual pictured samples. Send the required large and small end sizes, wall thickness and standard for availability review.
Can the reducer be ordered by outside diameter?
Yes, but also provide the matching pipe standard and wall thickness so the end dimensions and weld preparation can be checked.
Is this fitting supplied with beveled ends?
The photographs do not establish a specified bevel. Define the required end preparation or reference the applicable fitting standard in the enquiry.
Request a Concentric Reducer Quote
Send the material grade and standard, large and small end sizes, wall thickness or schedule, reducer length, end preparation, quantity and destination. Include the applicable piping code, service conditions and required inspection documents.
