Custom Stainless Steel Weld-On Saddle Threaded Outlets
AODSON manufactures custom stainless steel weld-on saddle threaded outlets for adding threaded branch connections to round pipe, manifolds, tanks and fabricated equipment. Each outlet can be machined with a concave base that follows the host pipe radius, helping the part sit consistently during fit-up and welding.
Female internal threads and male external threads are available. Material grade, thread form, bore, wall thickness, saddle radius and overall dimensions are produced to an approved drawing rather than a fixed catalog configuration.

Female and Male Threaded Configurations

Internal-thread outlets can provide a compact connection point, while external-thread versions can connect directly to a mating female component. Thread engagement length, entry chamfer, bore and outside diameter are adjustable to the mating part and required weld geometry.
Pipe-Matched Saddle Profile and Weld Fit-Up

The underside is cut to the specified pipe radius so the outlet can be positioned on a curved host surface. Fit-up, weld size and final performance depend on the complete assembly design, base material, welding procedure and inspection plan. Pressure capability must therefore be validated for the finished assembly and is not assigned by the outlet alone.
Design and Ordering Considerations
Please specify host pipe outside diameter or saddle radius, material grade, thread standard and size, male or female configuration, boss length, bore, wall thickness, saddle depth and orientation, quantity and surface finish. For pressure-retaining or safety-critical service, also provide design conditions, applicable code, weld procedure and inspection requirements.
Key Features
- Pipe-matched fit: the concave base can be machined to the host pipe radius for controlled positioning.
- Two thread configurations: female internal and male external thread designs are available.
- Drawing-based production: bore, length, wall thickness, thread engagement and saddle geometry can be customized.
- Secondary finishing: deburring, polishing and passivation can be added when specified.
- Fabrication ready: parts can be supplied for customer welding or incorporated into a reviewed fabricated assembly.
Typical Applications
- Pipe branch take-offs and instrument connections
- Stainless steel manifolds and distribution headers
- Tanks, process equipment and fabricated vessels
- Drain, vent, sensor and service connections
- Custom OEM piping and equipment assemblies
Quality Control and Inspection
Inspection can include material identification, overall dimensions, bore and wall thickness, saddle radius, thread gauge checks, concentricity, surface condition and fit-up against a reference diameter. Additional reports, passivation records or project-specific inspection can be agreed before production.
OEM Customization and RFQ Requirements
Send a drawing, 3D model or sample together with material, thread details, host pipe diameter, critical tolerances, annual quantity and application conditions. Our team will review machining feasibility, inspection requirements and the most practical production route before quotation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the saddle radius be matched to our pipe?
Yes. Provide the host pipe outside diameter, wall information and required orientation so the curved base can be reviewed and machined to the approved drawing.
Do you make both internal and external threaded outlets?
Yes. Female internal-thread and male external-thread versions can be produced with the specified thread form and engagement length.
What information is needed for a quotation?
Please provide material grade, host pipe diameter, thread standard and size, outlet dimensions, bore, wall thickness, quantity, finish and any welding, testing or code requirements.
