Wedge Wire Filter Nozzles for Distribution and Media Retention
Stainless steel filter nozzles combine a cylindrical wedge wire screen head with a threaded mounting section and a stem selected for the vessel or collector design. The narrow screen openings retain filter media while providing distributed flow paths through the nozzle head. Representative products in the gallery include compact threaded outlets, hex-nut mounting arrangements and extended slotted stems.
The photographs establish the visible configurations, but they do not define a universal slot opening, flow capacity or pressure rating. These values must be selected from the process duty, filter media and approved equipment drawing.
Specifications and Options to Confirm
| Item | Details for quotation |
|---|---|
| Material | 304 and 316L stainless steel are supplier-reference options. State the required grade, material standard and any certificate requirement. |
| Screen construction | Cylindrical wedge wire or precision slotted screen head. Confirm slot opening, wire profile, support arrangement and required open area. |
| Head dimensions | Specify screen outside diameter, screen length and overall head geometry. |
| Connection | External threaded connection is shown. Define thread form, nominal size, pitch and engagement length from the mating component. |
| Stem configuration | Compact, extended and slotted stems are represented. Provide stem outside diameter, length, openings and end details. |
| Mounting hardware | State whether nuts, washers or gaskets are required and define sealing material for the service conditions. |
| Flow duty | Provide flow direction, design flow per nozzle, allowable pressure drop and operating differential pressure. |
| Finish and inspection | Confirm cleaning, passivation or finish requirements, dimensional inspection and any project-specific testing. |
Selection and Hydraulic Considerations
Choose the slot opening in relation to the smallest filter media that must be retained, while allowing for media shape, operating direction and the possibility of blinding. The required number of nozzles and their spacing should be determined from the target flow distribution, total open area and allowable pressure drop across the assembly.
Head diameter and length affect available screen area. Stem geometry influences connection to the underdrain, plenum or collector. Extended stems and openings should therefore be specified from the actual vessel internals rather than selected from appearance alone.
Installation and Service Requirements
Define the mounting plate thickness, hole size, thread engagement and sealing method. If a nut-and-gasket arrangement is used, confirm gasket compatibility with the liquid, temperature and cleaning chemicals. The equipment designer should also check mechanical support, installation access and the effect of backwash or reverse-flow cycles.
Suitability for corrosive media, elevated temperature or cyclic differential pressure depends on the complete material and process specification. Provide the liquid composition, design temperature and differential pressure so the proposed construction can be reviewed.
Quality Control and Documentation
Inspection can be defined around slot opening, overall dimensions, thread geometry, weld condition, surface condition and quantity. Material identification, certificates, passivation records or additional tests should be listed in the enquiry and confirmed in the quotation. See our quality control information.
Frequently Asked Questions
How should the slot opening be selected?
Start with the filter-media size distribution and required retention limit, then check open area and pressure drop. Send the media specification and hydraulic duty for review.
Are the nut and gasket included?
Some photographed configurations show mounting hardware, but the supply scope is not universal. List each required nut, washer and gasket in the enquiry.
Can the long stem and openings be made to a drawing?
The gallery shows multiple stem geometries. Provide the required length, diameter, slot or hole pattern, thread and mating assembly so availability can be confirmed.
Request a Filter Nozzle Quote
Send the material grade, slot opening, screen diameter and length, thread specification, stem drawing, flow direction, flow and differential-pressure data, quantity and destination. Include the filter-media specification and any inspection documents required by the project.
