Four-Bolt Flange Bearing Units for Face-Mounted Shaft Support
This stainless steel square flange bearing arrangement combines a four-hole housing with an insert bearing, an extended inner ring and set-screw shaft locking. The flange mounts against an equipment face rather than on a pedestal base, making the bolt pattern, bore position and axial envelope central to replacement and new-equipment enquiries.
The photographs show SF208 housing and SSUC208 insert markings. The supplied listing references SUCF204, SUCF205, SUCF206, SUCF207, SUCF208, SUCF209 and SUCF210 units. Confirm the complete unit designation, component combination and required dimensions for the selected item; photographs do not establish a common rating for the whole series.
Product Specifications and Ordering Details
| Item | Product information / requirements to confirm |
|---|---|
| Housing configuration | Square flange with four corner mounting holes and a central insert-bearing seat. |
| Reference designation | SUCF series in the supplied reference; SF208 housing and SSUC208 insert markings visible on the photographed example. Confirm the complete ordered unit. |
| Material | Stainless steel reference construction. Confirm housing, bearing-ring, rolling-element, screw and grease-fitting material specifications separately. |
| Shaft bore | Specify shaft diameter, metric or inch dimensions, shaft tolerance and the required locking arrangement. No bore size is assigned solely from the photo. |
| Flange mounting | Specify flange width and height, mounting-hole spacing in both directions, hole diameter, flange thickness and available axial clearance. |
| Shaft locking | Set screws visible in the extended inner ring. Confirm installation instructions and tightening requirements for the selected insert. |
| Lubrication | Housing-mounted grease fitting visible. Confirm grease type, initial lubrication, fitting access and maintenance requirements. |
| Sealing and environment | Specify dust, water, cleaning chemicals, temperature and contamination exposure. Seal details and any special environmental qualification require confirmation. |
| Operating duty | Provide radial and axial loading, speed, duty cycle and required life. Request verified ratings for the selected assembly. |
| Supply scope | State complete unit, housing only or insert only; quantity, documentation, packaging and destination. Mounting fasteners are not assumed included. |
Configuration Features
- Four-point flange mounting: corner holes locate the housing against a supporting equipment face.
- Central insert bearing: a separate bearing insert sits within the housing; order a matched housing-and-insert combination.
- Extended inner ring: provides the visible shaft-locking screw locations and contributes to the assembly’s axial envelope.
- Grease fitting: allows access for the lubrication procedure specified for the selected unit.
Check the Mounting Interface Before Ordering
For a replacement, compare the entire interface rather than the shaft bore alone. Send a drawing showing the bore centre relative to all four mounting holes, the supporting face, any locating recess and the clearance around the rotating shaft. Include the required projection on each side of the mounting face.
The support plate or machine wall must be suitable for the applied forces and fastener arrangement. Confirm surface condition, alignment, bolt specification and installation procedure with the equipment designer and approved unit documentation. Do not use the mounting bolts to pull a misaligned housing or shaft into position.
Specify radial and axial forces, speed, starts and stops, and exposure to contaminants before selecting the bearing. Capacity, permissible alignment adjustment, lubricant and temperature limits must be established for the exact assembly. The presence of stainless steel or a grease fitting does not establish washdown, hygienic or food-contact certification.
Square Flange or Pillow Block?
A square flange unit attaches to a supporting face through four corner holes. A pillow block unit uses a pedestal base to support the shaft above its mounting surface. The two arrangements have different interfaces and should not be treated as direct substitutes. If your installation uses a pedestal, see our stainless steel pillow block bearing units.
Typical Application Enquiries
Discuss these units for conveyor shaft supports, packaging machinery, material-handling assemblies and other industrial equipment requiring a face-mounted bearing housing. Suitability depends on the actual loads, shaft arrangement, mounting structure and environment; provide those conditions rather than choosing solely from a series number.
Quality Control and Documentation
Define checks for unit and component identity, shaft bore, flange dimensions, hole pattern, housing condition, shaft-locking components, seals and grease fitting. Specify any material identification, dimensional reports, traceability or running checks needed so the supply and inspection scope can be agreed before ordering. Read more about AODSON quality control and inspection.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an SF208 marking identify the complete unit?
It is the photographed housing marking. Include the insert marking and full unit designation, and verify the bore and mounting dimensions for the complete assembly.
Are all components the same stainless steel grade?
That is not established by the reference. Confirm the housing and bearing-component specifications separately if material grade or documentation is important to the project.
Can I replace an existing flange bearing by matching its bore?
Not by bore alone. Compare the flange footprint, hole pattern, axial projection, shaft locking and operating ratings, as well as the shaft diameter.
