01 / BUILT TO SPECIFICATION

Stainless Steel Welded Pipes Built Around Your Project

Start with the application.
Build around the specification.

AODSON provides stainless steel welded pipe and tube solutions for projects requiring specific material grades, dimensions, wall thicknesses, finishes and downstream fabrication.

We review drawings and project specifications before confirming the manufacturing route. Small quantities, production batches and fabricated assemblies are assessed against size, material and processing requirements—not an assumption that every section is held in stock.

02 / MATERIAL SELECTION

Stainless Steel Grades

Match the alloy to corrosion exposure, fabrication requirements and the governing specification.

304 / 304L

A practical starting point for general industrial use, architectural work and equipment fabrication in moderate corrosion environments. Specify the required carbon grade and welding requirements.

AUSTENITIC

316 / 316L

Molybdenum-bearing grades for improved resistance in many chloride-containing environments. Consider for marine fabrication, chemical and process equipment after reviewing exposure, temperature and cleaning conditions. Not immune to seawater corrosion.

AUSTENITIC

2205

Duplex stainless steel combines higher strength with improved chloride resistance compared with conventional 304 and 316 grades. Welding, forming and inspection requirements need project-specific review.

DUPLEX

2507

Super duplex stainless steel can be reviewed for demanding corrosion and strength requirements. Availability and manufacturability depend on dimensions, quantity, standard and project requirements.

  1. Material selection

Confirm grade, starting material and documentation requirements.

  2. Cutting, forming & fit-up

Prepare the strip or section and align the edges for the specified geometry.

  3. Welding & weld finishing

Select the welding procedure and seam finish for the material, wall and intended service.

  4. Dimensional control

Review straightness, section dimensions and cut lengths against the agreed tolerances.

  5. Surface treatment & inspection

Confirm finish, surface condition and order-specific checks before release.

  6. Packaging

Agree protection, identification and handling requirements for the shipment.

BEYOND THE TUBE

Welding & Fabrication Capability

Combine welded tube production with cutting, drilling, machining, fitting and assembly support. AODSON reviews the complete component so connection details and downstream operations are considered early.

The welding method, procedure, seam requirements and any post-weld treatment are confirmed for the order. A production photograph alone is not a process qualification.

05 / TECHNICAL BRIEF

Custom Dimensions and Project Specifications

Send a drawing or a dimensioned specification. A drawing is helpful, but it is not required to start an enquiry.

ParameterAvailable options / confirmation basis
Material304, 304L, 316, 316L, 2205, 2507 and project-specific grades, subject to review

DimensionsAccording to drawing or project specification
Wall thicknessAccording to specification and manufacturing review
LengthStandard or custom cut lengths, confirmed for the order
SurfaceMill, brushed, polished, pickled/passivated or project-specific finish, as applicable
FabricationCutting, drilling, welding, machining and assembly support
DocumentationMaterial and inspection documentation specified with the order

Standards and Project Requirements

State the requested ASTM, ASME, EN, DIN, ISO or JIS designation and edition, where applicable. Production and inspection requirements are confirmed according to the requested product standard, material grade and application. These are specification families—not a claim that every tube complies with all of them simultaneously.

SURFACE MATTERS

Surface Finish Options

Finishing selected around corrosion exposure, appearance and downstream fabrication requirements.

Choose mill, brushed or polished appearance; pickling and passivation can be specified where appropriate to the manufacturing route. Define visible faces, brushing direction and finish acceptance using a reference sample when necessary.

06 / QUALITY & RELEASE

Quality Control for Welded Stainless Steel Pipe

Define acceptance criteria before production. Material verification, dimensions, wall thickness, weld visual condition, straightness, surface condition and assembly fit-up form the basis of the agreed inspection plan.

PMI / spectroscopy and other project-specific inspections are arranged when required and confirmed in the order. EN 10204 3.1 material documentation can be supplied when specified as part of the order; scope and applicability are confirmed during quotation.

MATERIAL DECISION

304 vs 316L Stainless Steel Welded Pipe

304 is a cost-effective choice for many general industrial and architectural applications. 316L contains molybdenum and generally offers improved resistance in chloride-containing environments; its low carbon content is relevant to welded fabrication.

Neither is a universal answer. Consider the fluid, temperature, cleaning regime and external exposure alongside cost. Read our guide to 304 vs 316 stainless steel.

CONSTRUCTION DECISION

Welded vs Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe

Welded pipe offers efficient production, dimensional flexibility and a practical route to many structural, process and custom fabrication applications when the specification permits it.

Seamless pipe is produced without a longitudinal weld seam and is specified for certain pressure, temperature or code-driven applications. Select using the design code, pressure, temperature, corrosion environment, size, fabrication and inspection requirements—not the construction label alone.

10 / PRACTICAL ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

What stainless steel grades are available for welded pipe?

AODSON reviews 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 2205 duplex and 2507 super duplex requirements, along with project-specific grades. Availability depends on dimensions, quantity, standard and manufacturing requirements.

Can AODSON manufacture custom stainless steel welded pipe sizes?

Yes. Submit outside dimensions, wall thickness, length and quantity for manufacturing review. Custom sections and fabricated assemblies are evaluated against the drawing or specification before order confirmation.

What is the difference between 304 and 316L welded pipe?

304 is widely used for general applications. Molybdenum-bearing 316L generally improves chloride resistance, while its low carbon content is relevant to welding. Selection still depends on temperature, exposure and project requirements.

Can welded stainless steel pipe be supplied with a polished finish?

Polished and brushed finishes can be specified for review. Define the appearance, visible surfaces and any surface acceptance criteria; use a sample where matching is important.

Can AODSON provide cutting, machining and welding after tube production?

These operations can be combined with tube supply according to the project. Include hole locations, joints, machining features and assembly requirements so feasibility can be reviewed.

Can EN 10204 3.1 material certificates be supplied?

EN 10204 3.1 material documentation can be supplied when specified as part of the order. Confirm scope, traceability and applicability during quotation; it is not automatically included for every enquiry.

How do I request a quotation for custom stainless steel welded pipe?

Send the material grade, profile, dimensions, wall thickness, length, quantity, finish and application. Include the standard and inspection requirements. Attach a drawing if available, or start with a dimensioned specification.
